Abstract

The Roads and Traffic Authority of NSW has developed a Public Transport Information and Priority System (PTIPS). A description of the main components of the system and its functionality is presented in an accompanying paper in this congress. The first two stages of testing PTIPS included simulation trials and trials with a single vehicle travelling around a closed path comprising seven intersections. The current stage of priority trials covers regular buses and this paper presents a description of these trials in terms of the nature of the bus services chosen, their routes, the in-vehicle equipment, and some early results.
