Abstract

One of the most important lessons offered by the alcohol traffic safety experience is the need for evaluation as an integral part of efforts to reduce the alcohol-crash problem. To choose and implement effective preventive measures worthy of the label "solutions" will require recognition that the alcohol-crash problem is complex and that the knowledge is presently indequate. It is necessary to convince the general public and the politicians of the critical need for a general approach to preventive measures.
