Abstract

This paper points out some issues with regard to road pricing and information research processes within the EUROTOLL project (European Project for Toll Effects and Pricing Strategies). The EUROTOLL project is part of the Fourth Framework Programme for Transport Research of the Commission of European Communities. The aim of this paper is to discuss the respective role and potential of road pricing and information techniques in Transport Demand Management (TDM). Existing and new technologies are addressed within their complexity and relevant contexts. Some examples are provided on specific applications. The requirements with respect to users and the value of information are also considered.
