Abstract

Vehicle design to avoid accidents involves attention to driver information and fatigue as well as vehicle characteristics. Limitations on design accrue from the requirements of technology, styling, economics and legislation. The interplay of these groups is discussed in relation to specific examples and a literature bibliography is appended.
