Smith, W.S.
Abstract

The author sets out three main factors which have to be considered in planning urban road systems, they must be part of the total transportation system, mass transit must be integrated with overall highway travel, and maximum efficiency must be achieved from existing street networks. Those principles relate to the present pattern of American cities.
