Abstract

For any administration to work correctly the politicians need tools whichhelp them in their decision making. This article proposes a methodology based on the location of the most suitable road sections for constructing cycle lanes by combining multi-criteria evaluation with GIS techniques. This method has been applied to the Regional Road Network of Cantabria in Northern Spain resulting in a very high concentration of suitable sections appearing on the coastal belt which is a logical consequence of regional characteristics and the selected criteria.
