Abstract

This paper briefly describes the principles of the Pro-Lab2 vehicle. The Pro-Lab2 vehicle is equipped with an intelligent electronic co-pilot to provide an appropriate support to the human driver in all traffic situations. The co-pilot is composed of a perception system, a decision system and an information module. The perception module determines the state of the vehicle, the state of the static and dynamic environment. The decision system diagnoses the situation and determines the risks, assesses and monitors the manoeuvres (passing, crossing,...), generates warnings or suggests possible manoeuvres. Decisions are provided to the human driver by the information module by visual and sound icons. The global system is embedded in a regular Peugeot 605 and works out in the standard driving situations on motorways, two way roads, and cross-roads. (A)
