Abstract

The importance of the intermodal trip distribution in the analysis and planning of urban transportation systems has stimulated extensive interest in developing methods for predicting intermodal trip distributions. The major methods for computing these are: gravity models, intervening opportunity models and the structural models. The model here proposed is based on the transition behaviour of the tripper population which is derivable in terms of motives for travelling.
