Abstract

Severe injuries to the legs sustained by motorcyclists are well know. To elucidate the state of affairs of crash protection of motorcyclists legs, and to describe the nature and size of the problem the following studies, from which some results are presented here, are carried out: 1) literature survey; 2) study of frequency, nature and outcome of significant injuries and 3) a study of the use of crash bars and the influence of these on injury patterns.
