Abstract
The specific situation of crossroads in the vicinity of level crossing is briefly typified. Traffic safety is highly determined by the possibility for roadusers to clear a level crossing in time. This paper specifies circumstances that may result in preventing road-users to (be forced to) come to a standstill on a level crossing. Special attention is paid to situations where intersections are located closely to a level crossing, the so called trappy-situations.
