Abstract

This article presents the problem of dazzling with self-illuminated traffic signals with a high light density. The dazzling light is emitted from the signal surface thereby reducing the recognition of the relatively small shape criterion on the contour of the signal. Dirty windscreens can also increase sensitivity to self-dazzling. The possibility of self-dazzling should be taken into account when designing traffic routes with semaphores.
