Abstract

The safety of cyclists and moped-riders is influenced by the handling characteristics of the two-wheeler. It is necessary to find the best compromise between manoeuvrability and stability. Cycle and moped design should be compatible with realistic users' needs. The dimensions of the two-wheeler must be suited to the dimensions of the rider; a good sitting position must be achieved. Furthermore, riding a two-wheeler makes special demands such as when turning, or riding and an uneven road surface.
