Abstract

This article treats goods movement from the standpoint of the author's experience with the United Parcel Service, and deals primarily with administrative and personnel matters in pickup and delivery. It discusses dispatching, hours per day devoted to pickup and delivery, and location of central distributing points. He considers the pickup and delivery problem to be largely solved, the management and computer analysis for handling individual problems being well in hand.
