Abstract

A method for determining vehicle braking efficiency whereby actual stopping distance achieved by the vehicle are compared to ideal stopping distance theoretically achievable of the vehicle brake system were able to modulate the brakes such that the tyres produced peak braking forces throughout the stop is described. Test procedures are described and the method employed for calculating ideal stopping distance is given.
