Abstract

This conference considers all types of motor vehicle engineering in relation to improved vehicle safety, including vehicle structure, occupant protection systems, human factors, collision avoidance systems, driver assistance systems and international harmonisation. The sessions include: Data Acquisition and Analysis for Future Safety Enhancement; Developments in Frontal/Side Impact Protection; Vehicle Stability and Control Systems, and Rollover Prevention; Integrated Safety Approach: From Prevention To Severity Reduction, Protection and Post-Crash Safety; Biomechanics- Injury Criteriaand Virtual Test Procedures/Tools Development; Safety Performance and Effectiveness of Driver Assistance Technologies; Rear Impact Injury Prevention & Protection; Human Machine Interface; Deployment Strategies of Safety Technologies; Structural Integrity and Restraint Performance; Vulnerable Road Users - Pedestrian Safety; Advances in Vulnerable Occupant Protection Systems; Advances in Truck Safety/Bus & Two Wheeled Vehicles Safety; Developments in Frontal/Side Impact Protection; and Effect of Fuel Economy Strategies on Vehicle Safety. Progress towards accident prevention is reported for France, Poland, Republic of Korea, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Netherlands, USA and Japan.
