Abstract

This Conference provides an opportunity for practitioners and policy makers to keep abreast of new developments in sprayed seal design, material selection and construction techniques. It will contribute to the continued development of sprayed sealing procedures and technologies which are vital to improving the performance of a significant proportion of the road transport system. Many of the 400 delegates who attended the first Conference in Adelaide in 2008 were field personnel attending an international conference for the first time. The feedback was very positive, and delegates suggested that the second Conference should focus on practical issues. The organising committee agreed and has developed the program around this concept. The program features special sessions that present case studies and the biggest issues as seen by Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. A special session will present a hypothetical sealing situation, and engage participants and an expert panel in the identification of practical approaches to the issue from these international perspectives.
