Abstract

This document presents the recommendations on road safety education, adopted by the Council of Ministers of Transport meeting in Annecy, France, on 26-27 May, 1994, as a result of the conference. The first part of the proceedings discussed the effects of a changing society and changing institutions. The second part considered possible strategies to be adopted with reference to: (1) safety education as a continuing gradual process, adapted to the development of children and young people; (2) adaptation of educational tools and financial resources; (3) new motivation and training for teachers and other actors; (4) the integration of road safety education with other current concerns; and (5) full public participation. The third part summarized the discussions, presented general conclusions and recommended further action.
