The conference covered the following seven themes: pedestrian and cyclist behaviour and its modification; statistical analysis of pedestrian and bicycle accidents and their trends; town planning and environmental considerations in planning for the safety and comfort of pedestrians and cyclists; road design and traffic control for pedestrian and bicycle safety; injury aspects and medical problems in pedestrian and bicycle safety; pedestrians, cyclists and the law; the role of government and of transportation policy in ensuring pedestrian and bicycle safety.
