Abstract

The international Symposium was a three-day meeting consisting of general and focused discussions of the state-of-the-art, policy issues, and concepts and definitions used in the evaluation of the performance of transportation systems. Specifically, five topics were chosen which focused the workshop session discussions on those areas which were: energy conservation, economic development, urban form, impact of the transportation system on the environment, and safety.
