Abstract

The 16th ESV Conference was held in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, May 31-June 4 1998. The proceedings include over 300 technical papers divided into eleven technical sessions: (1) Advanced frontal and offset frontal protection; (2) Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) collision avoidance systems; (3) Vehicle compatibility; (4) Truck and bus safety and fuel system integrity; (5) Advanced airbag technology; (6) Data collection, analysis and linkage; (7) Biomechanics-injury criteria and test procedures; (8) Side impact protection and upper interior head protection; (9) Biomechanics- dummy development and computer modelling; (10) Pedestrian, child restraints and motorcycle safety; (11) New car assessment programs.
