Abstract

The papers presented at the symposium and included in these proceedings represent much of the latest research that has been conducted during recent years on unsignalized intersections throughout the world. The research covers 62 authors and co-authors from 14 countries; 59% of the papers are from countries outside of the US. Included are reports that describe current practices in twelwe countries. Technical information provided in these papers is aimed at improving the traffic engineers' understanding of the characteristics of traffic flow at unsignalized intersections and thus aid in making good decisions on the design of new facilities or the selection of appropriate control at a given intersection. For abstracts of the individual papers see ST 20020530 a - ST 20020530 oo.
