Abstract
This dissertation focusses on process-guidance of local participatory public policy making about local spatial planning. In the first chapter I explain the context of process-guidance and participatory policy making. In my view, participatory policy making is a continuation of two Dutch traditions: the tradition of public participation, which stems from a reform of the spatial planning system, and the Dutch pacifistic tradition of compromise and adaptation.
