Abstract

A major integration of research on stimulus structure- its perception and processing- is presented. The related concepts of stimulus information and stimulus structure are primary in perception. One major research theme concerns the role of information as measured by number of stimulus alternatives in perception of visual spatial patterns and auditory temporal patterns. Another major theme concerns the relation between dimensions which define stimuli as critical in understanding our perception and processing of the stimuli.
