Abstract

The objective of the evaluation was to determine if a national diagnostic inspection program would be cost effective in the sense that public benefits would exceed the program costs. The methodology for the study was to review published data relevant to the program, examine data submitted by the sites, define site expenditure, and describe and document benefits to the consumer, in addition to direct and indirect costs of conducting a vehicle inspection program.
