The program Physical planning and Mobility is a 3-year program, running from 2004-2006. It is a program of the national platform for local governments on traffic and transport (KPVV), in cooperation with Nirov, STADSWERK Nederland and the the national Information and Technology Centre for Transport and Infrastructure (CROW). For a good quality guarantee of the programme a user Council in which eleven practice experts are represented from the different target groups (municipality, province, enabling legislation area, businesses), has been established. The main principles for the activities of the programme are: showing urgency: What goes wrong if we coordinate insufficiently between physical planning and mobility and what is the profit if we do? What are examples of success and what not? What are the barriers in the field of legislation, financing etc.; creating realisation by stimulating and organising the administrative and public debate and a vaste campaign for professionals, (articles, presentations, meetings, discussions excursions, trainings etc.); the promotion of experiments and supporting practice cases by giving recommendation tailored, creating situations where can be experimented with legislation and financing and advertising supporting succeeded projects; making accessible existing instruments and concepts by means of a portal; (leave) to develop education and training; both in the regular education (WO and HBO) and in the postgraduate education by developing material, organising lectures and looking after coaching routes.
