Abstract

The role of programming in the transportation programming process is defined and the historical aspects, current features and future trends of the concept are examined. The programming role is that of marshalling all the options, weighing them against one another, deciding the order of effectiveness among means, and the order of relative efficiencies for each level of effectiveness of means.
