Abstract

This was one of the 1998 TAC Environment Achievement Award Nominations (2). This project creates a "Coastal Parkway" which maximizes the opportunity to appreciate the phenomenal resources of the area while minimizing environmental intrusions and impacts. The goal was to create a coastal Parkway with sufficient facilities and unique natural features to provide the "critical mass" necessary for the Parkway to become a primary "Tourism Destination Area" in its own right; and for the Parkway to create sufficient economic impacts and spin-offs to justify its existence. An overview of the project location and its physical form is provided. Additional information on the integration of roadway, parking and trail facilities as well as the location of lookouts and other critical features including emergency facility access, toilets, food services and the Interpretive Centre which constitute the "Fundy Trail Parkway" are also illustrated.
