Abstract

In the assignment process of `station-origin-destination-matrices' to schedules, with or without a complete timetable, the Marketing Department of Dutch Railways uses the so-called PROgram für LinienOPtimierung (PROLOP) assignment program. This program, was developed together with the Technical University of Braunschweig (Germany). The program determines the route alternatives between two stations within a certain time period on the basis of a number of criteria. After that, the volume of trips is distributed over these route alternatives. (A)
