Abstract

This conference covers all the different types of new technology being currently used to improve vehicle design. Included are papers of methods to decrease exhaust fumes from both petrol and diesel engines; methods to test and measure exhaust fumes; the use of alternative automobile fuels such as hydrogen; suspension system design; improvements in braking and handling systems; driver models; methods to decrease the severity of injury to both pedestrians and vehicle occupants; driver information systems and the `intelligent' car, methods to provide an automatic `co-pilot' to help drivers improve their vehicle handling. For abstracts of the relevant papers see C 1662-1707. The volume (C 1661 c) containing abstracts gives the abstracts in French, English and German.
