Abstract

The state of Australia's transport infrastructure and the processes for improving it have been of concern to Engineers Australia and the National Committee for Transport (NCTR) for some time. The condition of our infrastructure has been highlighted and the processes for improving it have been discussed at length. This paper outlines further principles which NCTR believes should be adopted. The problem can be simply stated: our national land transport infrastructure is deficient, and we do not have the money to improve it to the standard we would like.
