Abstract

This paper draws on the results of several studies concerned with the safety of cycling. It is argued that target group segmentation is necessary when it comes to education and training. This paper presents conclusions and recommendations for each of these target groups. The target groups are: (1) Children, divided in four groups represented by age intervals of 3-4 years; (2) Adults with young adults as a separate sub-group; (3) Elderly people; and (4) Adults born in another country. The paper concludes with some remarks concerning educational priorities and positive effects of other traffic safety measures.
