Abstract

The objective of the proposed wet skid resistance test procedure is to evaluate the skid resistance of tires on various wet and slippery road surfaces, under various conditions of tire wear, and during various vehicle driving maneuvers. Tires are tested when they are new, partially worn, and totally worn during performance of vehicle cornering, deceleration, and acceleration. Data obtained from these tests, make it possible to evaluate the wet road grip of tires as a function of the type of tire, the tread design and the tread compound.
