Abstract

Non-compliance with the 55 mph speed limit is increasing: the safety and fuel-saving benefits that the limit has provided are eroding. Programs and activities to reduce violations of the 55 mph limit must be implemented at both State and community levels. Therefore, the activities called for in this plan are designed to identify, develop and transfer to the States, all that will help to reduce violations of the speed limit.
