Abstract

This paper describes function integration in the ALERT prototype vehicle. One of the main goals of the project is to demonstrate the feasibility of an intelligent system to support driver for multiple functions in a synthetic and simple manner. The driver support systems include: a) anticollision warning; b) longitudinal control, such as autonomous intelligent cruise control and emergency braking; and c) vehicle infrastructure communication. An overview is given on implemented functions, sub-systems, and MMI (Man Machine Interaction) aspects based on on-vehicle experimental results. (A)
