Abstract

The National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management (hereafter NILIM) has confirmed the effectiveness and function of the basic AHS support services by installing AHS infrastructure facilities on the NILIM test course and conducting proving tests with actual vehicles. The objective is to realize the practical application of these AHS support services. In light of the results from this program, plans are being made to implement tests on public roads and conduct a thoroughgoing evaluation of the support services. This report will present an overview of tests of the support service for information on standing and slow-moving vehicles ahead and the support service for prevention of overshooting on curve, which are services for road sections of uninterrupted flow field. It will also present the findings from research on the effectiveness of these support services.
