Abstract

The Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation has provided traffic information for drivers by means of "variable message signs" and "graphic information boards" along the roads in order to help them drive safely, smoothly, and comfortably. To meet the increasing demand for the previous presentation of expressway traffic information, it has recently introduced "graphic information boards on street". The present paper describes details about the introduction of the "graphic information board on street", its features and functions, and its mechanism of information presentation, and also refers to the determination of graphic display orientations and the evaluation of information board visibility after installation based on the results of experiments and questionnaires conducted prior to the introduction.
