Abstract

Proximal decision analysis can be applied to many types of optimization problems. In this paper, proximal analysis has been applied to a traffic signal light optimization problem. Based on the approach volumes, optimum values of cycle length and green time for each phase were obtained deterministically, by minimizing total average delay. The expected change in total average delay can be determined by performing an open-loop analysis.
