Abstract

The main theme of this book is how expectations, choices, decisions and actions are influenced by the degree of uncertainty, what language is employed to convey this state of mind and how precise and effective it is. The perception of probability, the role of independence and chance in subjective sampling, and a law of sequential choice are examined. The importance of uncertainty and chance in gambling, medicine, crime, art and love are discussed.
