Abstract

The approach adopted here is the view that driving fatigue is readily explicable in terms of three well-known psychological phenomena: effects of sleep disruption, effects of emotional disturbance, and reactive inhibition. Fatigue is á generalized response be stress maintained over a period of time'. Suggestions for environmental design to offset performance decrements caused by fatigue are discussed.
