Abstract

To effectively counteract the rising toll of traffic collisions one must deal more creatively with the problems that lead to collisions. This involves the mechanics of the vehicle and the roadway, the traffic system, the physiology and personality of the drivers, and the social context of the driving. In this paper the social norms and cultural patterns under- lying the personality of the drivers are discussed.
