Abstract

The New Zealand Public Attitudes Survey has been undertaken periodically since 1974, and annually since 1994, to evaluate attitudes to road safety issues, primarily alcohol impaired driving and speed. Face-to-face interviews about these issues are conducted in May and June of each year with respondents aged 15 and over in towns, cities and rural areas throughout New Zealand. In 1999 1645 people were interviewed, including 1417 who held drivers' licenses. (A)
