Abstract

In acknowledging that service to the user is a prime consideration with regard to transport initiatives. It is important that the user, or public, is given the opportunity to provide input into the planning, design and implementation processes. An evaluation was made of the public consultation procedures of three major road planning projects, and studies undertaken by transport agencies. The evaluation showed that consultation enables issues of concern to be aired and community objectives established and then incorporated where possible in the favoured road development proposal.
