Abstract

The general conditions of transportation in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre in Brazil, with calamitous repercussions in the life quality of the citizens, caused the institutional agencies to devise distinct projects in order to change this status quo. This paper analyses the main projects, attempting to establish the technical-institutional interfaces, and the complementarity among them, as well as the repercussions of this issue regarding the users needs. (A) The French title of the paper is: "Les politiques publiques du transport et leurs résultats : le cas de Port Allegre".
