Abstract

The papers in this volume of the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board were selected for awards in a nationwide competition under the 2009—2010 Graduate Research Award Program on Public-Sector Aviation Issues. The purpose of the Graduate Research Award Program is to encourage applied research on airport and related aviation system issues and to foster the next generation of aviation community leaders. The program aims to stimulate thought. discussion. and research by those who may become the future airport managers, operators, designers. and aviation policy makers. The focus is on applied research to help the public sector improve the quality, reliability, safety, and security of the U.S. civil aviation system. (Author/publisher)
