Abstract

This report surveys the operations and organisation of the public transport system in Surabaya, the second city of Indonesia. The three main forms of public transport (cycle rickshaws, mini buses and conventional buses) are described and compared. The role of 'intermediate' public transport in Surabaya's transportation system is determined. This provides an example of the important position which intermediate public transport has in the transportation networks of many third world cities. (Author/publisher)
