Abstract

A review of relevant research was undertaken in parallel with qualitative research, commissioned to improve understanding of the behaviour, attitudes and motivation of people who drive after drinking alcohol. Sixty documents were identified, of which over 30 are summarised in the review. The combined project was intended to inform Department for Transport policy on drinking and driving, drink-drive campaigns and designs for future quantitative surveys of drinking and driving. The review findings were highly consistent with those from the qualitative research, which are published separately (RSRR No. 114).
