Abstract

Asphalt pavement recycling can be considered as an alternative to conventional technologies of pavement rehabilitation. Based on the analysis of variance of the pavement's material composition, a method for the identification of homogeneous sections is given. Formulae for determining mean errors and variance for aggregate gradation and asphalt content of the recycled mixture are shown. Several models are proposed for the mix design using response surface experimental design techniques. In the case of central-plant recycling the economically effective hauling distances of the reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) are determined depending on the reclamation technology. In situ recycling could be used to repair roads in rural areas. The German title of this article is: Qualität und Eignungsprüfungen bei der Wiederverwendung von Asphaltdeckschichten.
