Abstract

Under increasing pressure for "value for money" in public expenditure, there is a risk that funding will be limited for those activities where a dollar value for benefits cannot easily be determined, such as safety research. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that the benefits of safety research are very real, and can often be quantified. A way to increase the benefits of safety research is discussed.
