Abstract

A method for estimating queueing delay for passengers exiting a rapid transit station is described. The method requires estimates ofthe average number of people exiting each train, average headway, and average service rate as inputs. The average delay is easily calculated with a hand calculator. This paper appeared in transportation research record no. 1152, rail rapid transit and planning tools. Forcovering abstract see irrd no 818412.
