Abstract

The Frejus tunnel is a privileged axis between the North and the South of Europe within the MELYSSA corridor. Considering the increasing amount of the road traffic and services which can or could be offered to road users in the following years, such as RDS and RDS-TMC, it appears interesting for many reasons to continue to retransmit these services inside the Frejus tunnel. This paper presents first the results of the feasibility study carried out on the site of the tunnel, the preliminary tests and the choice of the scenario. An evaluation of the new technical performances is also presented.
